Job summary

Riverside Walter Reed Hospital is seeking a Surgical First Assistant to support operative care under the surgeon's direction in our Virginia ORs. The ideal candidate will assist with laparoscopic, total joint, and robotic cases, prep and turnover, and ensure patient safety and infection control.

Requirements include graduation from an accredited Surgical Assistant program, 3–4 years OR experience as a Surgical Assistant, and applicable Licensure/CSFA/CSA credentials upon hire.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Surgical Assistant program or equivalent.
• 3-4 years of operating room experience as a Surgical Assistant.
• 1 year operating room experience with Riverside Health System.
• Licensure/certification as LSA/CSFA/CSA upon hire or as applicable.

Responsibilities

• Assist the physician with all aspects of care during operative procedures.
• Collaborate with physicians to meet the specialized needs of patients.
• Support departmental productivity and cost containment through smart staffing and supplies.
• Maintain infection control practices and safety standards per policy.
• Float among RHS facilities as needed and adapt to schedules.
