Surgical First Assist - CSFA

Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience required

License: Current surgical tech certification through a recognized board is required. Must also have one of the following certifications: CSFA, CSA, or SA-C.

Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, CST, CSFA

Must-Have: Experience and proficiency in assisting in orthopedics is required.

Description:

Unit has 14 surgical suites.

The average number of cases per day is 28, with an additional 5 add-ons, including same-day surgery cases.

The ratio in the operating room is 1:1.

The unit requires on-call staff for weekends and weeknights.

Call rotates weekly for 12-hour shifts, with potential additional call required.

Weekday call shifts may be from 7P-7A or 7P-11P, while weekend shifts include various hours.

Holiday call coverage is also required as needed.

Call response time is 20 minutes.

Scrubs are provided for staff.

All surgical cases are handled except for Open Heart.

Common types of cases include neuro spine, total joints, and open fractures.

Technicians are responsible for turning over rooms.

The nursing staff is not required to interpret telemetry in the operating room; this is handled by anesthesia.

The pharmacy is available 24/7.

There are varied shift schedules available, primarily during the day or evening.

Floating among outpatient surgery may be required.
