Job summary

Indiana University Health System in Indianapolis is seeking a Surgical Enhanced Technologist for a full-time day shift (Mon-Fri). You will assist before, during, and after procedures and manage instruments and equipment to support the surgical team.

You will train colleagues, participate in OR turnover, and ensure sterile field compliance while following professional standards and regional committee reviews. This role works closely with surgeons, nurses, and anesthesiologists.

Qualifications

• Requires NBSTSA Certified Surgical Technologist.
• Requires High School Diploma/GED.
• Requires Basic Life Support Certification.
• Must be expert in advanced technology within specialty service (lasers, robotics, navigational tech, implantable devices).
• Requires documentation of 19Contact Hours of Continuing Education.
• Requires knowledge of surgical equipment and instrumentation.
• Adheres to sterile field policies.
• Interview with Surgical Technologist Steering Committee after regional review.
• Minimum 1 year OR experience in Skilled Technologist role or relevant experience.

Job description

This is a full time day shift role working Monday-Friday. No weekends or holidays required!

Surgical Enhanced Technologists provide service and support before, during, and after surgical procedures. Assists in ensuring the presence and proper arrangement of surgical equipment, supplies and instrumentation in the operating room prior to each operation. Provides assistance to the surgeon in the operating room as allowed by professional and legal standards. Assists in the turnover of the operating room after the procedure ensuring proper routing and/or processing of all specimens, equipment, instrumentation and supplies. Works as a member of the surgical team with surgeons, anesthesiologists, registered nurses, and other surgical personnel. Trains colleagues on various skills and tasks. Acts as a resource or mentor to colleagues with less experience.

• Requires a High School Diploma/GED.
• Requires certification as a Certified Surgical Technologist obtained from the NBSTSA.
• Requires Basic Life Support Certification.
• Must be an expert in advanced technology within specialty service. Examples include lasers, robotics, navigational technology, Implantable Electronic Devices (Pacemakers, VADs, VNS), etc.
• Requires documentation of 19Contact Hours of Continuing Education.
• Requires knowledge of name and function of surgical equipment and instrumentation.
• Requires strict adherence to policies and regulations regarding maintenance of sterile field.
• Requires application and completion of selected documentation for review by each region's Surgical Technologist Steering Committee as well as an interview with the committee.
• Requires a minimum of 1 year OR experience in the Skilled Technologist role or relevant experience.
