The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center in Columbus, OH seeks an Education Specialist to advance educational programs across undergraduate to graduate medical education within the Department of Surgery. The role emphasizes scholarship, curriculum development, and program innovation in a large academic health system.

You will work with education leadership, develop funding proposals, and help implement teaching initiatives while supporting the department’s educational and research

Qualifications

• PhD or MD/PhD in an applicable field.
• Academic experience a plus.
• Qualify for academic appointment at the Assistant, Associate or Professor level – Academic rank and salary will be commensurate with previous training and experience.

Responsibilities

• Support the Department of Surgery's undergraduate medical education activities through scholarship and implementation.
• Support the Department of Surgery's graduate medical education activities through scholarship and implementation.
• Submit and manage grant and funding applications to support education research.
• Contribute to educational development for faculty, including scholarship and implementation of teaching programs to support promotion.
• Provide administrative support for departmental education activities from a scholarship perspective (e.g., OR coaching).
• Engage with national organizations related to surgical education and share best practices.
• Assist VCE in analysis of assessment and evaluation processes for students, trainees, and faculty.
• Coordinate and oversee research opportunities in surgical education for learners and educators.
• Plan and present faculty development workshops for Department educators.
