Job summary

Indiana University School of Medicine is seeking a Surgical Director of Liver Transplant to lead the abdominal transplant program. The role is based primarily at IU Health University Hospital with a competitive salary and academic rank based on experience.

The successful candidate will oversee a team of transplant surgeons, APPs, and staff, participate in organ procurement, and contribute to education and scholarly activity as part of an academic appointment.

Qualifications

• MD/DO or equivalent, Board-eligible/board-certified in Surgery.
• Completion of an ASTS-accredited transplant surgery fellowship (required).
• Eligible for medical licensure in Indiana; experience in abdominal transplant surgery.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic and clinical leadership as Surgical Director of Liver Transplant.
• Oversee the Liver Transplant Program and multidisciplinary collaboration.
• Perform the full spectrum of abdominal transplant procedures with emphasis on liver and intestine transplantation.
• Participate in organ procurement and complex hepatobiliary surgery.
• Share on-call schedule with one week of call per month, plus weeks off.
• Teach and mentor trainees; engage in research and scholarly activity for academic promotion.
