Job summary

The Ascension St. Vincent Heart Failure Program is seeking an experienced Surgical Director of VAD & Transplant to lead and grow our advanced heart failure surgical services.

The program is a recognized Center of Excellence and Joint Commission certified. Lead and oversee durable and temporary VAD implantation, heart transplantation, and advanced mechanical circulatory support, while expanding regional referral relationships and ensuring exceptional outcomes.

Qualifications

• Board-certified CardioThoracic Surgeon.
• Expertise in Ventricular Assist Device implantation and management.
• Heart transplantation experience or leadership in transplant programs preferred.
• Commitment to quality, research, and multidisciplinary team-based care.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic vision and oversight for VAD & Transplant services.
• Advance growth in mechanical circulatory support and transplant volumes.
• Oversee VAD implantation procedures and heart transplantation protocols.
• Strengthen collaboration with Heart Failure cardiology, intensivists, and the Heart Center.
• Lead or participate in transplant and MCS clinical trials and innovation.
