Job summary

Pennwood Oral Surgery is hiring a Surgical Dental Assistant to join our team in Lancaster. You will support our Oral Surgeons across various procedures, prepare the treatment room, and ensure strict infection control while maintaining patient comfort and safety throughout care delivery.

The role requires an X-ray license, a high school diploma or equivalent, and prior dental assistant experience, preferably in oral surgery.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Valid X-ray license required.
• Experience as a dental assistant, especially in Oral Surgery, is highly desirable.
• Discharge experience is highly preferred.
• Knowledge of oral surgery procedures, instruments and materials.
• Infection control protocols and safety measures knowledge.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and multitask.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with patient-centered approach.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Proficiency in dental software and computer literacy.

Responsibilities

• Prepare the treatment room, ensure cleanliness, organization and supplies.
• Sterilize and maintain instruments according to infection control guidelines.
• Set up equipment like suction, chairs, X-ray machines and lights.
• Assist with oral surgery procedures and provide instruments as needed.
• Maintain sterile environment during surgery and monitor patient comfort.
• Handle waste and hazardous materials per safety regulations.
• Provide post-operative care instructions and patient education.
• Schedule appointments, manage records and billing and assist with inventory.
