Surgical Dental Assistant @ Dental Specialty Center - Brandon

Dental Specialty Center of Brandon is looking for a Surgical Dental Assistant to assist our clinical team by providing a high level of patient care and satisfaction in a team-based environment.

Hours: Mon – Fri 7:45-5:00

Position Overview:

As a Dental Assistant, you are an integral part of the care team, supporting the office and assisting the professional dental staff with treatments. Candidates must have prior dental assisting experience to be considered.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare treatment rooms, sterilize instruments, and assist dentists during procedures.
  • Welcome, comfort, and educate patients on oral hygiene and post-treatment care.
  • Take and develop X-rays, assist with impressions, and maintain study models.
  • Ensure infection control protocols, maintain patient confidentiality, and follow workplace regulations.
  • Maintain accurate patient records, including scheduling and patient intake as needed.
  • Assist in managing dental and medical emergencies by maintaining CPR certification, emergency drugs, oxygen supply, and emergency contact information.
Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Completion of a one-year certified dental assistant program
  • or
  • Six months of on-the-job experience with supporting documentation

Additional certifications:

  • X-Ray certification
  • Nitrous Oxide certification (highly recommended)

High school diploma or equivalent required. Dental Assistants are also expected to maintain annual OSHA, HIPAA, CPR, and infection control training as required by law.
