Job summary

UCHealth Highlands Ranch Hospital in Highlands Ranch, CO, is seeking an onsite Surgery Scheduling Coordinator to manage all aspects of surgery scheduling and coordination with the care team.

Responsibilities include scheduling inpatient and outpatient surgeries, confirming appointments, and performing insurance verification and pre-authorizations as needed. This is a days-shift, full-time, onsite position with a competitive hourly pay range.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • BLS through AHA/Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer with card in-hand before start date; BLS/ CPR valid through sixty days of hire.

  • Schedules inpatient and outpatient surgical appointment times using scheduling programs.
  • Coordinates with physicians and healthcare team to ensure facility, surgeon, staff and equipment availability.
  • Communicates with patients and families to provide pre-procedure instructions and confirm appointments.
  • Performs insurance verification and/or pre-authorizations as necessary.
  • Must work in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision and use good judgement.

Summary

Coordinates all aspects of surgery scheduling.

Responsibilities
  • Schedules inpatient and outpatient surgical appointment times using computerized scheduling programs.
  • Coordinates with physicians and other healthcare team members to ensure availability of facilities, surgeon, staff and equipment.
  • Communicates with patients and/or their families to provide necessary pre-procedure instructions and to confirm appointments.
  • Performs insurance verification and/or pre-authorizations as necessary.
  • Within scope of job, requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgement and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and take appropriate action.
Requirements
  • Education: High School diploma or GED.
  • Licensure/Certification: Relevant life support certification as determined at position level.
  • Minimum Experience: None required.
  • BLS through the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer with card in-hand before start date. BLS or CPR card must be good through sixty days of hire.
