Job summary

Bennett & Bloom Eye Centers is seeking a Surgical Coordinator in Elizabethtown, KY to manage pre-surgical scheduling, patient education, and coordination with affiliated facilities for seamless care. You will verify insurance benefits, prepare cost summaries, counsel patients on finances, and support physicians and the Eye Surgery Center team with a patient-centered approach.

Salary is competitive, full benefits are provided, and hours are Monday–Friday with potential flexibility to meet patient

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Background check favorable.
• Proof of identity and right to work in the United States.
• Experience in financial counseling and with insurance preferred.

Responsibilities

• Schedule surgery and pre-surgery education with patients and facilities.
• Coordinate pre-op appointments with patients and caregivers.
• Check patient charts for insurance benefits and prepare cost summaries.
• Counsel patients on Physician Fee and Eye Surgery Center charges.
• Follow up on and collect surgery payments.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

SUMMARY

Deliver excellent patient-centered care by ensuring the financial and surgical communication process is complete for patients having surgical procedures.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

This position will require flexibility and a broad knowledge base, with ability to perform any of the below tasks.

• Schedule surgery, perform pre-surgery patient education regarding preparation for surgery and communicate with all associated facilities.
• Schedule and coordinate pre-op appointments with the patient and/or the patient’s care giver.
• Check every patient chart for insurance benefits, prepare a cost summary and counsel patients regarding finances.
• Counsel patients for Physician Fee and Eye Surgery Center.
• Follow up on and collect surgery payments.
• Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

• High School diploma or GED equivalent is required
• Experience in financial counseling is preferred
• Experience working with insurance is preferred

LICENSES AND CREDENTIALS

• Minimum Required: None

SYSTEMS A ND TECHNOLOGY

• Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• This role requires a variety ofphysicalactivities to effectively perform essential job functions. The position involves frequent walking (75%), sitting (50%), and standing (50%), with regular bending, stooping, and reaching (25–50%). Employees must be able to lift, carry, push, and pull items up to 25 lbs. Strong fine motor skills and full use of hands are essential, as the role demands constant grasping, writing/typing, and use of technology. Visual and auditory acuity—including color, depth, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus is required100% of the time. Occasional driving or climbing may also be necessary.
