Job summary

Sarasota Memorial Health Care System is seeking a Surgical Coder for a remote position. The coder will apply ICD-10 and CPT codes for claims processing and data analysis, working to ensure accuracy in patient financial activities.

Requirements include two years in a physician office and CPT/ICD coding experience; CPC/CCS-P/CGSC certification is preferred. Florida residency is required for onboarding and training occurs on-site in Sarasota, FL.

Qualifications

Surgical Coder

Identifies and applies appropriate ICD-10 diagnostic and CPT procedural codes to individual patient health information for claims processing, data retrieval and analysis. Responsible for patient financial related activities, which includes accurate entry of insurance benefits, authorizations and other activities which ensures complete and accurate claims.

Remote position. Must be FL resident to work for Sarasota Memorial Healthcare System. Must be available to complete pre-employment screenings/onboarding, orientation and training on-site (Sarasota, FL).

Required Qualifications:

• Minimum of two (2) years of experience in a physician office.
• Minimum of one (1) year of CPT and ICD physician coding experience.
• Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or Certified Coding Specialist - Physician-based (CCS-P), or Certified General Surgery Coder (CGSC)

Preferred Qualifications:

• College degree.
• Demonstrated initiative and the ability to work in a self-directed environment.
• Multi-Specialty coding experience.
• Basic knowledge of third party payers.
• Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain working relationships.
• Previous experience with medical terminology.
• Demonstrated basic accounting and math skills.
• Demonstrated computer, keyboard, and data input skills.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a high volume setting.
• Knowledge of electronic health records software and skill in all Microsoft office software programs (Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point, Access).
• Demonstrated effective verbal and written communication skills.

Mandatory Education: High School Diploma, GED or Certificate.

Preferred Education: Associate's Degree.

This is a remote position for a Surgical Coder with experience in General Surgery and Interventional Radiology. The work schedule is flexible, Monday through Friday. This position will transition to a fully remote role after successful completion of training.

FPG Central Billing Office is located in downtown Sarasota at the Support Services Building: 1743 Main Street, Sarasota, FL 34236. This is where you will work/train until transitioned to remote.
