Job summary

Bingham Healthcare is seeking a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) for the Same Day Surgery team in Blackfoot, ID. The role focuses on preparing patients for surgery, supporting perioperative processes, and ensuring a safe, caring environment.

You will assist with personal care, vital signs, mobility, and transport, while collaborating with nurses, physicians, and anesthesia staff to enhance the patient experience.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED, or related training/experience.
• Previous hospital experience preferred; CNA experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide personal care and assistance with daily living activities.
• Assist patients with showering, dressing, oral care, and toileting.
• Keep patients who experience incontinence clean and dry.
• Assist with meals and serve patient trays as needed.
• Provide emotional support, comfort measures, and explanations to patients and families.
• Observe patients for changes in physical or mental condition and report to the charge nurse.
• Measure and record vital signs and report changes as needed.
• Collect specimens, label accurately, and assist within CNA scope.
• Escort patients or arrange transportation to assigned rooms.
• Assist with admissions, transfers, and discharges.
• Ensure safe transport to and from the Surgery Department.
• Verify patient identity according to hospital policies.
• Assist physicians and other staff within CNA scope.
• Maintain a safe, clean environment for surgical care.
• Respond to patient call lights and report concerns to surgical team management.
• Document unusual perioperative occurrences accurately.
• Keep patient rooms neat, stock unit supplies, and manage weekly paper product orders.
• Collaborate with surgical, anesthesia, physicians, and other departments.
• Attend safety trainings and follow infection prevention procedures.
• Participate in continuing education as required.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
