Job summary

Carolinas Center for Oral & Facial Surgery is seeking a Surgical Assistant to join the Charlotte, NC practice. The role involves supporting the surgical team, handling x-ray work, sterilization, and instrument prep, plus patient care tasks and post-op instructions.

The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma, CPR certification, and comfort with sterilization principles; OMFS experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Oral and Maxillofacial surgery experience preferred.
• Demonstrated understanding of sterilization principles required.
• CPR certification required.

Responsibilities

• Performs patient care activities as part of the surgical team.
• Takes and develops x-ray films as needed.
• Cleans, packages, sterilizes, and stores supplies, instruments, and equipment.
• Assists doctors with surgical procedures (extractions, implants, bone grafts, etc.).
• Prepares patient and room for procedures and reviews post-op instructions.
• Documents patient care records and communicates status to care team.
• Maintains safety, quality, and OSHA compliance throughout duties.
• Uses computer system for scheduling and communication.
