Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED and completion of a formal surgical assisting program required.
• Certification in an approved Surgical Assistant program within 12 months of employment is required; BLS certification is required; ACLS preferred.
• Minimum of 1 year of experience in surgical assisting.

Responsibilities

• Assist surgeon during surgical/invasive procedures; maintain sterile field and handle instruments.
• Prepare OR and sterile table/field; assist with sterilization of instrumentation.
• Organize Davinci Robot Trays and supply carts; coordinate with Materials Management for supplies.
• Assist education department in teaching novice nurses in OR roles.
• Participate in on-call duties and universal protocol; ensure patient safety and proper specimen labeling.
