Job summary

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Completion of a Surgical Assistant Program is required.

Responsibilities

• Performs surgical hand scrub, gowning, and gloving; assists as first or second assistant.
• Protects patient information and participates in Universal Protocol procedures.
• Communicates with circulating nurse about instrument issues or sterility concerns.
• Preps OR, maintains sterile field, and arranges equipment per surgeon's preference list.
• Assists with patient positioning, prepping, foley catheterization and draping.
• Under supervision, assists with intraoperative tasks and closing procedures.
