An established industry player is seeking a skilled Surgical Assistant to support surgical procedures. In this role, you will assist surgeons by ensuring optimal patient positioning, providing necessary visualization, and applying wound dressings. Primary responsibility involves performing specific tasks as a Surgical Assistant during surgical procedures to enable the surgeon to perform efficient and safe operations. Assists with identifying anatomy within the operative field, maintains positive customer relations, demonstrates competency, and possesses the technical skills appropriate for assigned cases. Performs duties within scope of responsibility and is accountable to the Surgical Assistants manager.
Clinical skills performed under direct supervision of the surgeon include:
Communicates pertinent information to the physician, ensures team members are informed of care plans, and completes incident reports promptly. Maintains professionalism with all stakeholders.
Demonstrates leadership by motivating, educating, delegating, and mentoring peers. Participates in meetings and supports ongoing professional growth.
Plans and implements patient care efficiently, manages workload, and uses resources responsibly to maintain fiscal responsibility.
Familiar with surgical positions and equipment, assesses patient safety, implements infection control measures, and reports safety issues and patient events.
2 years college or specialty school in surgical assisting; preferred 4 years general experience with 2 in a specialty area.
Certified within 6 months of employment by NSAA, CFA, AA-C, or CRNFA; or advanced medical degree with 3 years U.S. practice; BLS certification required. Membership and specialty certification preferred.
