To be successful as an oral surgery assistant, you should be highly organized and attentive to patients' needs.

Surgical Responsibilities:

  • Assist Surgeon during consultations and treatment.
  • Proper instrument cleaning in accordance with infection control and biohazard protocols
  • Autoclave operation and function
  • Surgical tray set-up
  • Identification of instruments used in the clinic.
  • Room set up/break down for IV anesthesia and surgery.
  • Seat patient and perform pre-op set-up.
  • Review charts.
  • Nitrous oxide set-up.
  • Properly positioning restraints.
  • Support airway for sedated patients.
  • Ability to circulate and retrieve instruments.
  • Excellent patient care & communication.
Non-Surgical Responsibilities:
  • Patient Reception:Greet patients with a warm and friendly demeanor, ensuring they feel welcomed and comfortable upon arrival. Handle patient registration, verify insurance information, and assist with any necessary paperwork.
  • Telephone and Email Correspondence:Answer incoming phone calls and respond to email inquiries promptly and professionally. Provide accurate information about services, appointments and general office policies.
  • Patient Records:Maintain and update patient records with accuracy and confidentiality. Ensure all necessary documentation is complete and organized for easy access by the clinical team.
  • Office Coordination:Assist in the coordination of administrative tasks to maintain the smooth operation of the office. This includes ordering office supplies, managing mail, and coordinating with vendors as needed.
  • Patient Care and Satisfaction:Strive to deliver a five-star experience with exceptional customer service to all patients, addressing their concerns and resolving any issues that may arise. Ensure a positive patient experience from check-in to check-out.
  • Adherence to Policies and Procedures:Comply with all office policies, procedures, and protocols to maintain a safe and efficient working environment. Maintain confidentiality of all doctors, staff, and patient information.
  • Restock supplies, forms, handouts, and rooms.
  • Take vital signs.
  • Familiar with all forms and handouts (procedure-based, consent forms, etc.)
  • Aware of and in compliance with OSHA requirements (e.g. personal protection)
  • Perform administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, filing, and charting.
  • Make follow up phone calls to patients.
  • May take X-Rays.
  • Properly closing and opening the office each day (Tanks, Suction, Xray)
  • Greet patients and make them feel comfortable.
Required Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Current CPR/BLS certification required.
  • Dental X-ray license (Pano, PA, CBCT) required.
  • Great organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • The ability to provide excellent patient care, even under stressful circumstances.
  • Consistent professionalism in appearance and attitude.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Completion of an accredited Surgical Assistant program preferred.
  • Certification as a Surgical Assistant preferred.
Schedule:
  • Monday: 8:00am -12:00pm Livermore &1:30pm -4:30pm in Dublin
  • Wednesday: 8:00am - 4:30pm in Dublin
  • Thursday: 8:00am -4:30pm in Livermore
  • Friday: 8:00am - 1:00pm in Dublin

Special Requirements:
  • Working on-site is essential to the function of this position.
  • Must be able to stand up to 80% of the time at minimum.
