Job summary

Saint Joseph Health System in Mishawaka, Indiana seeks a Physician Assistant to assist with surgical procedures in the operating room and clinic, perform initial patient assessments, schedule diagnostics, and document care provided. Qualifications

• Education: High school graduate with additional specific training.
• Two years post-secondary education in an accredited Physician Assistant program or comparable training.
• Certification in Surgical Assisting and/or evidence of employment in surgical assisting.
• BLS certification required upon hire or within 60 days.
• Experience in independently harvesting leg veins preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assists with surgical procedures in operating room and in clinic.
• Conducts initial assessment of patients during office visits.
• Schedules diagnostic test procedures as directed.

• Collaborates with clinic medical home team and supports a team construct.
• Adheres to safety, infection control and employee health policies.
• Performs other duties aligned with job purpose.

What you will do:

What you will need:

Education:

High school graduate with additional specific training.

Two years post-secondary education in an accredited Physician Assistant program or comparable training that results in successful certification by an accredited organization in surgical assisting.

Licensure:

Certification in Surgical Assisting and/or can provide evidence of employment in the field prior to July 1, 2009.

BLS certification required upon hire or able to obtain within 60 days.

Experience:

Experience in independently harvesting leg veins preferred
