Job summary

Proficio Surgical Assistants is seeking a full-time Surgical Assistant to join our team in the Greater Houston area. In this role, you will provide essential support to surgeons during procedures by preparing the operating room, assisting with patient care, and maintaining safety protocols.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on surgical experience, strong knowledge of surgical technology, and a commitment to teamwork and high-quality patient care. Certifications as a Surgical Assistant are required.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in Operating Room practices and patient safety standards.
• Hands-on experience in Surgical Assisting and intraoperative tasks.
• Knowledge of the use, handling, and maintenance of surgical instruments.
• Foundational understanding of relevant Medicine and perioperative care.
• Ability to respond calmly in urgent situations.

Responsibilities

• Support surgeons during procedures with hands-on assistance.
• Prepare the operating room and ensure sterilization and organization.
• Assist with patient positioning and retraction as directed.
• Document clinical information and collaborate with surgical teams.
• Maintain current clinical knowledge and participate in ongoing training.

Skills

Operating Room practices and protocols

Surgeon assistance (exposure, hemostasis, suturing)

Knowledge of Surgical Technology

Understanding of Medicine (anatomy, physiology)

Competence in Sterilization processes

Strong communication and teamwork skills

Education

Completion of an accredited Surgical program

Current certification or licensure as a Surgical Assistant (CSA, CSFA, SA-C)
