Job summary

Westchester Implant and Oral Surgery Group (NY) is seeking a skilled Surgical Assistant to support the surgeon and maintain a high standard of patient care in a busy specialty practice.

You will prepare the surgical area, assist during procedures, manage instruments, monitor vitals, and provide post‑operative instructions while ensuring patient comfort and safety. A strong team fit is essential.

Qualifications

  • 1–2 years of experience as a surgical assistant; specialty preferred.
  • Knowledge of dental instruments and sterilization methods.
  • Understanding health & safety regulations.
  • Ability to perform regulated non‑surgical tasks.
  • Excellent communication and people skills.
  • Good computer skills.
  • Strong attention to detail; well-organized and reliable.
  • A high school diploma; certificate if required by law.
  • Active state radiology license if required by law.
  • Must be able to sit/stand for extended periods and operate office equipment.

Our office, Westchester Implant and Oral Surgery Group (NY), is seeking a talented surgical assistant to join our busy specialty practice.

We are looking for a talented and skilled Surgical Assistant to help us accomplish our mission to improve the lives of our patients by providing a world-class specialty experience for every patient. Your Responsibilities

You will ensure excellent patient service and lift administrative and basic dental tasks off the Dentist’s shoulders. You will be focused on ensuring that the patients' needs, concerns, and questions are answered. You will help keep the patient relaxed and comfortable during their visit, being the patients go to resource during their visit which includes the following:

  • Prepare the surgical area, instruments, and equipment before each procedure.
  • Assist the surgeon during procedures by anticipating the surgeon's needs and assisting as required.
  • Keep surgical areas and instruments clean and sterilized.
  • Monitor and record patient vitals and ensure patient comfort and safety.
  • Prepare and provide post-operative instructions and materials to patients.
  • Help maintain inventory and order supplies as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the surgeon or office manager.

As one of the essential members of our office, you will also help to facilitate/coordinate other office responsibilities as needed.

You also have the following:

  • At least 1-2 years of experience as surgical assistant, specialty is preferred
  • Knowledge of dental instruments and sterilization methods
  • Understanding health & safety regulations
  • Ability to perform regulated non‑surgical tasks
  • Excellent communication and people skills
  • Good computer skills
  • A strong attention to detail
  • Well‑organized and reliable
  • A high school diploma
  • A certificate from an accredited surgical assistant program (if required by law)
  • An active state radiology license (if required by law)
  • Must be able to sit and stand for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to operate standard office equipment
  • Must be able to assist patients safely in and out of chairs or treatment areas
  • Must be able to maintain clinical positioning for extended periods
  • Must be able to work around medical equipment and instruments
  • Must be able to adhere to OSHA and infection control standards
  • Must be able to perform repetitive hand and wrist movements
  • Must be able to respond quickly in emergency situations

Position Base Pay Range: $26 USD - $32 USD
