Job summary

MedVet is seeking a Surgery Veterinary Technician to join our fast-paced team. You will liaise between surgeons and clients, manage medical records, and assist with pre- and post-operative care in a dynamic hospital setting.

The role emphasizes thorough documentation, accurate invoicing, and collaborative teamwork with the surgical department to ensure exceptional patient outcomes and client satisfaction.

Qualifications

• Must hold or be eligible for State RVT license.
• Experience in a veterinary surgery setting preferred.
• Strong communication with surgeons and clients.

Responsibilities

• Manage appointments, histories, invoicing, and discharges.
• Fill medications, enter charges, and maintain medical records.
• Create release forms and discuss treatment plans and costs with clients.
• Prepare patients for surgery and assist with procedures and radiographs.
• Perform blood draws and submit lab work.
• Ensure documentation accuracy.
• Assist with OR setup, cleaning, and instrument prep.

Surgery Veterinary Technician

Our Surgery team is a fast-paced environment, perfect for technicians that are looking for training in multiple facets of the department and interaction with the other teams in the hospital. This team requires strong communication skills to liaison between surgeons and clients and deliver post-operative care instructions.

What you'll do:

• Manage appointments, obtain patient histories, medical record keeping, invoicing, patient discharges, etc
• Fill medications, enter charges and maintain accurate medical records, schedule appointments
• Create patient releases, navigate client conversations around treatment plans and financial obligations
• Prep patients for surgery, including shaving, scrubbing and positioning, assist with intubation and radiographs
• Proficiently perform blood draws and submit bloodwork
• Ensure documentation is accurate and complete
• Opening, turning over and cleaning operating rooms, as well as cleaning instruments and wrapping packs

Who are you:

• State Registered Veterinary Technician license preferred
• Prior veterinary experience required, previous surgery experience desired
• Proficient in calculations (drugs, constant rate infusions, unit conversions, etc.)
• Flexibility with work hours and able to work additional hours when necessary
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
