Position Overview

Experienced Candidates Only: Physician group in Dayton, OH is actively seeking candidates for a faculty position in the division of acute care surgery. This position offers a unique opportunity to join a collaborative team that blends academic medicine with clinical practice across Dayton and the surrounding region. As a faculty member, you will play an integral role in educating and training medical students, residents, and fellows, while providing care to a diverse patient population in a variety of clinical settings.

The group is one of the largest and most comprehensive healthcare systems in Southwest Ohio, with a dynamic environment where patient care, clinical research, and medical education intersect. As a faculty physician, you will contribute to improving patient outcomes, advancing clinical innovation, and shaping the next generation of healthcare professionals. Resources include five inpatient hospital campuses, a broad network of urgent care centers, emergency departments, 170 physician office locations, and specialized services, all supported by the academic excellence of Wright State University. This provides an unparalleled platform for growth and impact in healthcare and medical education.

The position is based in Dayton, Ohio; a city with a 1,133-bed hospital that has been an ACS-verified Level 1 Trauma Center since 1992, with over 4,500 trauma admissions annually.

Responsibilities
  • Join a team of 9 surgeons practicing trauma, surgical critical care, and emergency & elective general surgery.
  • Participate in patient care, research, educational activities, and regional trauma system development.
  • Responsible for resident and medical student education.
  • Provide surgical and critical care for trauma patients.
  • Care for elective and emergency general surgery patients, and engage in research.
  • Work within a trauma program supported by 20 advanced practitioners, radiology and interventional radiology services, an inpatient rehabilitation facility, and subspecialty support including orthopedics, neurosurgery, plastics, maxillofacial, OB/GYN, and anesthesiology.
  • Contribute to the civilian/military residency program that graduates 8 chief residents annually.
  • Participate in clinical rotations for medical students.
  • Complete an ACGME-approved Surgical Critical Care fellowship and an AAST-approved Acute Care Surgery fellowship.
Minimum Requirements
  • Completed an accredited surgical residency program.
  • Fellowship in trauma/critical care.
  • Interest and experience in scholarly activity.
  • Board eligibility/certification in general surgery and surgical critical care.
  • Licensure to practice medicine in Ohio.
