Job summary

Medix in Pleasant Prairie, WI is seeking a Surgical Technician to scrub across general, orthopedic, robotic, and complex specialty procedures. This role offers exposure to high-tech ORs featuring robotics and advanced imaging, with a collaborative surgical team and supportive environment.

Expect 40 hours/week, shifts 6:00 AM–10:00 AM, and an on-call rotation about every 4–5 weeks; candidates must reside within 30 minutes. NBSTSA and BLS/CPR are required or obtained within stated timelines.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited ORT or Surgical Technologist program (Associate Degree or Technical Diploma).
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience in Robotics and Orthopedics.
  • NBSTSA Certification required (or within 6 months of hire).
  • BLS/CPR Certification required (or within 6 weeks of hire).
  • Ability to live within a 30-minute radius of the facility for call response.

Salary: USD27 - USD47 per hour + + Shift/Skill Differentials

Position Overview

Our client is seekingSurgical Technicansto join their dynamic surgical team. This role offers the opportunity to scrub for a broad range of surgical specialties, from routine general cases to high-complexity procedures like craniotomies, brain tumor biopsies, and donor meniscus transplants.

Operating in modern, state-of-the-art suites, you will work alongside skilled surgeons in a collaborative environment featuring high-tech instrumentation without the long daily commute to major metropolitan centers.

High-Tech Surgical Environment: Work in spacious ORs built in 2019, equipped with top-tier technology including DaVinci 5 robotics, Cori total-joint robotics, Excelsius GPS for spine, and Stealth navigation systems.

Key Responsibilities

Surgical Support: Perform scrub duties across general, orthopedic, robotic, and complex specialty procedures. Assist surgical teams with advanced cases.

Sterile Field Maintenance: Apply expert knowledge of human anatomy, surgical procedures, and aseptic techniques to ensure a sterile and safe operating environment.

Instrument Handling: Prepare, separate, and clear instruments for sterile processing after procedures (direct sterilization is handled by SPD).

Inventory & Core Management: Monitor OR supplies, track inventory levels, notify leads when stock is running low, and assist with cleaning/restocking sterile core areas.

High-Volume Block Schedules: Scrub effectively during back-to-back block scheduling while maintaining clear communication under fast-paced or demanding conditions.

Schedule & Call Requirements

Shift Structure: 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday. 8-hour shifts with start times between 6:00 AM and 10:00 AM.

On-Call Rotation: Approximately once every 4 to 5 weeks.

Weekdays: Primary call (end of shift – 6:00 AM) or Secondary call (end of shift – 9:00 PM).

On-Call Proximity: Candidates must reside within a 30-minute response radius of the hospital to meet call coverage guidelines.

Qualifications & Requirements

Required:

Graduate of an accredited Operating Room Technician (ORT) or Surgical Technologist (ST) program (Associate Degree or Technical Diploma).

Demonstrated hands-on experience in Robotics and Orthopedics.

NBSTSA Certification: Required (or obtained within 6 months of hire).

BLS/CPR Certification: Required (or obtained within 6 weeks of hire).

Ability to live within a 30-minute radius of the facility for call response.

Preferred:

Experience in Neuro/Spine procedures (head, complex spine, advanced orthopedics).

Background working in a Level 2 or Level 3 Trauma Center.
