Job summary

Inotiv in Indianapolis is seeking a Surgical Support Technician to assist with animal surgery and care, ensuring welfare and safety standards. This hands-on role requires compassion, attention to detail, and teamwork.

You will prep surgery, sterilize equipment, handle animals, keep accurate records, support anesthesia and post-operative care, and help manage supplies. High school diploma required; animal care/lab experience preferred. Weekend rotations and overtime may apply.

• Willingness to work weekends and holidays on rotation as well as overtime as needed.

Responsibilities

• Provide daily care and feeding for animals, ensuring health and welfare standards are met.
• Assist with surgery prep and support—prepare instruments, sterilize equipment, calibration of equipment, transfer and weigh animals and maintain accurate records.
• Help coordinate and fulfill customer orders; includes selection, packaging and confirming accuracy.
• Maintain accurate records for feeding, cleaning and care of animals.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and compliant surgical and facility environment; requires general housekeeping duties.
• Monitor supply levels and assist with inventory control.
• Support anesthesia, surgical prep, and post-operative animal care.
• Perform general housekeeping duties and documentation tasks.
• Contribute to a culture of respect, teamwork, and continuous improvement.

What You’ll Do

What We’re Looking For

• High school diploma required.
• Lab or animal care experience preferred
• A genuine desire to work with and care for animals every day
• Interest in animal surgery and biomedical research
• Basic math skills required.
• Strong attention to detail, cleanliness and organizational skills
• Team player with a positive, proactive attitude
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand/walk for extended periods
• Willingness to work weekends and holidays on rotation as well as overtime as needed
• Comfort following written and verbal instructions in English.
• Adherence to the company domestic pet policy and biosecurity.
