Job summary

UVA Health is seeking an Access Associate Senior to support procedural scheduling for Invasive Cardiology, including the Cardiac Catheterization Lab, Electrophysiology Lab, and cardiovascular procedures.

This role handles scheduling, registration, and verifying insurance to ensure patients can navigate admissions smoothly while maintaining data accuracy and delivering a positive patient experience.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s Degree preferred.
• Experience: External candidates require 3 years’ experience in a clinical setting (hospital, surgery center or ambulatory clinic) in an administrative or clinical role.
• License/Certification: None required; CHAA or CRCR within 18 months for Access Lead positions.

Job description

This position supports procedural scheduling for Invasive Cardiology which includes the Cardiac Catheterization Lab, Electrophysiology Lab, and CV procedures. Patient Access roles manage patient entry points into the healthcare system, including scheduling, registration, and verifying insurance. Patient access staff ensure that patients can efficiently navigate administrative processes while maintaining data accuracy and enhancing the patient experience.

Individual contributors provide support to Invasive Cardiology at UVA Health, often in direct service, operational, technical or administrative functions. These contributors spend the majority of time delivering support services or activities, typically under supervision. Seasoned individual contributors work under limited supervision for routine situations. Problems are typically non‑routine and require analysis to understand. They make minor adjustments to working methods and independently develop solutions to problems, explaining practices, procedures, and policies to reach agreement with others outside the job area.

Minimum Requirements

• Education: High School Graduate or equivalent required; Associate’s Degree in a related field preferred.
• Experience: Internal candidates must demonstrate proficiency in the duties of the Access Associate Senior role. External candidates require 3 years’ experience in a clinical setting (hospital, surgery center or ambulatory clinic) in an administrative or clinical role.
• License/Certification: None required. For Access Lead positions CHAA or Certified Revenue Cycle Representative (CRCR) by HFMA required within 18 months of hire date.
