Job summary

CLS Health in Houston, Texas, is seeking a Surgical Scheduler to coordinate office- and hospital-based procedures in alignment with provider orders. The role encompasses financial clearance tasks including eligibility verification and pre-service collections, and timely handling of scheduling changes and patient communications.

The Scheduler will input accurate patient data, liaise with hospital staff, secure prior authorizations as needed, and ensure proper medical clearance and pre-surgical

Qualifications

• Minimum of a High School Diploma.
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience in healthcare scheduling or equivalent.
• Experience with contacting insurance providers and verifying coverage.
• Familiarity with managed care contract requirements for pre-certification and authorization processes.
• Medical terminology experience and applicability.

Responsibilities

• Schedules office and hospital-based procedures with provider and time/location slot and appropriate scheduling code.
• Inputs accurate registration data including patient demographics and insurance information.
• Interfaces with hospital staff to ensure cohesive patient care.
• Performs insurance eligibility verification and pre-service collections for scheduled and unscheduled services.
• Enters notes and special instructions in the EMR for scheduling.
• Communicates scheduling changes and cancellations timely and accurately.
• Ensures pre-procedure needs such as consent, testing, and pre-authorizations are completed.
