Job summary

Florida Cancer Specialists & Research Institute is seeking a skilled medical office professional to join our team. You will schedule patient appointments, coordinate pre- and post-operative steps, and help manage financial responsibilities for services and surgeries in a fast-paced, multi-site environment.

The ideal candidate has a High School diploma, knowledge of medical terminology, excellent written and verbal communication, and proficiency in Word, Outlook and Excel.

Qualifications

  • Education: High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology required.
  • Must have excellent communication skills, written and verbal.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook and Excel) required.
  • Previous Experience (including minimum years of experience): Position requires at least 5-year medical office work experience.

Responsibilities

  • Schedule all appointments according to physician orders, including but not limited to, obtaining surgical authorizations, outside testing, referrals and surgery services.
  • Act as liaison between physician and referring physician / co-surgeon to ensure that all pertinent pre-op and post-op procedures/instructions are given to patients.
  • Responsible for monitoring, estimating and collecting the patient financial responsibility for patients’ in-house services and surgeries.
  • Demonstrates working knowledge of all facets of role, relevant regulations, and organizational and departmental policies and procedures.
  • Performs other duties and projects as assigned.
  • Perform all duties in accordance with regulatory requirements and organizational policies and procedures.

Self‑motivated and self‑starter with ability to work independently with limited supervision. Must be able to work effectively in a fast‑paced, multi‑site environment with demonstrated ability to juggle competing priorities and demands from a variety of stakeholders and sites.

Computer Skills: Proficiency in MS Office Word, Excel, Power Point, and Outlook required.
