Job summary

St. Tammany Health System in Covington seeks a Perioperative RN to oversee care for a group of patients during operative and invasive procedures.

You will plan, direct, and coordinate nursing care, and supervise the surgical team to ensure safe, efficient patient experiences. This WOW weekend schedule, with Friday 6:15–2:45 and Saturday–Sunday 6:15–6:45 plus one holiday, requires prompt on-call readiness and the ability to work flexible shifts.

Qualifications

• Graduate from NLN accredited school of nursing.
• Current Louisiana RN license and current BLS and ALS certifications through ILCOR courses.
• Able to work flexible shifts and take call according to unit specific standards.

Responsibilities

• Responsible and accountable for a group of patients during a designated time frame and to provide care to these patients via therapeutic use of self, the nursing process, the environment/instrumentation, and other health care team members.
• The Perioperative RN is accountable for planning & directing the care of every patient undergoing operative & invasive procedures.

JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Scheduled Weekly Hours: 32

Work Shift: WOW - (Friday) 6:15 to 2:45pm, (Saturday and Sunday) 6:15 to 6:45pm, one Holiday call required if it lands on one of these days.

Summary of the Job:

The Perioperative RN is accountable for planning & directing the care of every patient undergoing operative & invasive procedures. The Perioperative RN directs & supervises the surgical team members.

Minimum Qualifications:

Graduate from NLN accredited school of nursing; currentLouisiana RNlicense and current BLS and ALS (Advanced Life Support) certifications through any International Liaison Committee on Resuscitation (ILCOR) provided courses such as but not limited to: Ochsner Health System, American Heart Association, and American Red Cross. The ILCOR course must include a manikin check off. Able to work flexible shifts and take call according to unit specific standards.

This is a WOW - Weekend Only Work -position which requires a minimum of five (5) out of six (6) consecutive weekends. Employee will be paid for hours worked, plus shift and WOW differentials.

The Perioperative RN must be available in-house within 30 minutes when on call.

Physical Demands:

Must possess good physical health. Some requirements include but are not limited to standing, sitting or walking for long periods of time. Lifting at least 50 pounds is required. Must be able to work with a moderate level of noise.

Physical Effort required:

Constant (67%-100%) - reaching, handling/feeling, talking, hearing, seeing

Frequently (34%-66%) - lifting, carrying, pushing/pulling, stooping, crouching

Occasionally (1%-33%) - climbing (stairs, ladders, etc.), balancing, crawling
