Job summary

Dignity Health – Yavapai Regional Medical Center (DH-YRMC) is seeking a Surgery Procedure Coordinator to orchestrate surgical schedules, coordinate resources, and ensure comprehensive patient support. You will manage communications and pre/post-op information across physicians and staff to streamline procedures.

Ideal candidates will have strong organizational and interpersonal skills, experience with front office tasks, and familiarity with EMR systems.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • One year of front office or clerical experience preferred.
  • Basic computer skills including Outlook and Windows-based programs.
  • Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills for customer service.
  • Strong organizational ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate schedules for surgeries, physicians, ORs, anesthesia, equipment, and staff per physician recommendations.
  • Serve as liaison, distribute pre/post-op information, and manage financial/insurance details for prior authorizations.
  • Validate and capture insurance coverage and identify patients needing financial counseling.
  • Coordinate services and provide specialized instructions requested by patients and physicians.

Job Summary And Responsibilities

As our Surgery Procedure Coordinator, you will be a central pivot, orchestrating seamless and efficient surgical procedures while ensuring comprehensive patient support. Every day, you will meticulously coordinate schedules for physicians, ORs, anesthesiologists, equipment, and staff per physician recommendations. You'll act as a critical liaison, communicating with all parties, distributing pre/post-op information, and expertly managing financial/insurance details to secure prior authorizations. To be successful in this role, you will possess exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, and a deep understanding of surgical workflows. Your ability to anticipate needs and provide proactive support will be paramount.

  • Schedules all surgeries and/or procedures for patient admissions/appointments maximizing allocated spaces.
  • Works in conjunction with physician and/or staff to prioritize admissions/appointments and maximize allocated space based on medical needs.
  • Validates and captures primary, secondary and tertiary insurance coverage to ensure accurate billing. Identifies patients in need of financial counseling to ensure appropriate payment of services. Identifies services not covered by the insurance plan or requiring prior authorization; informing patients of courses of action as appropriate.
  • Coordinates services and provides special instructions as requested by patients, internal physicians and referring physicians, i.e. Post Op Bracing orders and Home Health.
Job Requirements
Required
  • High School Diploma/GED
  • One year prior front office or clerical experience.Basic Computer skills, Outlook, window-based programs.
  • Ability to organize work so that productivity and effectiveness are maximized.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing providing excellent customer service.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to multitask and handle multiple priorities/tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred
  • One year surgical scheduling.
  • Electronic Medical Record EMR experience.
  • Cerner experience
