Qualifications

  • High School diploma is required.
  • At least 1 year of experience in a medical environment dealing with insurance verification and authorizations, medical terminology, and CPT/ICD9 coding.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Obtains the insurance company’s contracted rates.
  • Calculates the patient’s financial responsibility.
  • Collects the patient’s pre-surgery deposit.
  • Completes and submits all non-payment letters.
  • Completes Physician’s instructions on non-payment letters.
  • Completes daily batch of pre-surgery deposits for Accounting.
  • Communicates effectively with staff, secretaries, physicians and patients.
  • Encourages good communication with the Primary Care Physician’s office, Insurance and Worker’s Compensation carriers and the various Hospitals and surgery centers.
  • Documents and keeps accurate records on all surgeries.

Description

Position Summary: The Pre-Certification Collector must accurately and efficiently collect all co-pay, co-insurance, and deductible amounts due prior to the scheduled surgical procedure(s) while meeting Physicians standards and exhibiting excellence in customer service.

Qualifications
  • High School graduate.
