Job summary

CHI St. Vincent Morrilton, part of CommonSpirit Health, is seeking a SurgeryNurse to prepare patients for surgical procedures and assist in the operating room. You will ensure consent forms, preoperative assessments, and intraoperative support, updating family members on surgery status.

The role requires an unrestricted Arkansas nursing license, 1–2 years in Surgery/Perioperative care, 1 year acute care experience, BLS through AHA, and compassionate patient care in high-pressure settings.

Qualifications

• Unencumbered license to practice in the State of Arkansas
• 1 - 2 recent years in Surgery or Periop setting
• 1 year of acute care experience is required (new graduates or nurses who have never worked in an acute care setting are hired through our residency training program)
• Previous surgery experience is preferred, but not required
• BLS through the American Heart Association is required

• Care for patients before, during, and after procedures
• Develop and implement nursing care plan for surgical patients
• Ensure operating rooms are prepped with all necessary equipment and supplies

Job Summary and Responsibilities

As a SurgeryNurse at CHI St Vincent, you will prepare patients for surgical procedures and assist in the operating room to ensure they receive excellent nursing when they are at their most vulnerable.

Every day you will go over consent forms, answer questions about the procedure, do preoperative assessments, make sure the equipment is ready to go, and update family members on the surgery status during the operation. You will be expected to directly assist the surgeon during the actual surgery.

To be successful in this role you must have the ability to maintain focus while multitasking, remain calm under pressure, and exercise good judgment in emergency situations.
