Job Description Summary

This position is accountable for coordinating the daily flow of supplies, implants and equipment for the Surgery Department with multiple inventory tools; automated supply units, electronic hand held units and an ERP system for perpetual inventory. This position ensures that procurement requests accurately reflect clinical and cost requirements and the timing of receipt for those requests meet customer and financial expectations. The Coordinator is responsible for the computerized supply replenishment and procurement of owned, consigned and same day requested inventory. They are also responsible for routine inventory management to ensure accurate financials and product integrity. This position requires a high degree of critical thinking to ensure the right supplies and services are available to support the clinical operations of the surgical department and ensure the best patient care by reacting to planned and unplanned requests for patient treatment.

Responsibilities And Duties

Coordinate the daily flow of surgical supplies, implants, and equipment, managing owned, consigned, loaner, and same day requested inventory.

  • Use ERP and forecasting tools to replenish inventory, ensuring timely availability of supplies.
  • Manage product integrity, including expiration dates and recall checks, in assigned areas.
  • Resolve supply chain issues such as backorders, substitutions, recalls, or logistical failures, communicating updates to the team.
  • Assist clinicians with product trials, purchases, and documentation of vendor and product transitions.
  • Maintain appropriate par levels, conduct annual inventories, and coordinate emergent and planned inventory changes.
  • Provide customer service to physicians, clinicians, and surgery staff, ensuring correct product placement and availability.
  • Implement new technology and coordinate logistical implementation of approved products.
  • Perform administrative duties such as cart maintenance and cart changes within the inventory area.
  • Follow safety, quality, and efficiency protocols as a High Reliability Organization.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED (Required)
  • 2 to 3 years of related healthcare experience
  • Basic math and computer skills
  • Understanding of the financial impact of supply chain functions
  • Ability to work in a moderately paced, ever-changing environment
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
Specialized Knowledge
  • 2 or more years of related experience (specifically in healthcare supply chain)
Desired Attributes
  • 3 or more years of related experience; surgical supply or related experience preferred
  • Analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Strong teamwork and follow-through abilities
  • Flexibility and prioritization under pressure
  • Proficiency with spreadsheets, databases, Word processors, and applications such as Workday, Microsoft Teams, EPIC
Information Security

Maintains confidentiality of login passwords and other authentication devices. Adheres to privacy and security policies and reports incidents to the OhioHealth Information Security Officer.
