Trinity Health IHA Medical Group in Ann Arbor, Michigan is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Board Certified or Board Eligible General Thoracic Surgeon with expertise in lung and esophageal surgery, specifically in robotic-assisted techniques.

As a key member of our surgical team, you will play a pivotal role in delivering exceptional care to patients with the full spectrum of thoracic conditions, including diseases of the lungs, esophagus, mediastinum, and chest wall. You will collaborate closely with other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive care to patients, utilizing the latest surgical techniques and technologies to achieve optimal outcomes. This position offers an exciting opportunity to collaborate in a dynamic and supportive environment with established multidisciplinary oncology care teams and a well-established lung cancer screening program.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform a wide range of thoracic surgical procedures, with a focus on lung and esophageal surgery, utilizing both traditional and minimally invasive techniques.
  • Robotic-Assisted Thoracic Surgery, demonstrating proficiency and precision in surgical interventions.
  • Video-Assisted Thoracic Surgery (VATS).
  • Evaluate patients with thoracic disorders, conduct thorough assessments, and develop comprehensive treatment plans tailored to individual patient needs.
  • Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure coordinated and comprehensive care.
  • Provide patient education regarding thoracic conditions, treatment options, and postoperative care instructions.
  • Contribute to quality improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing surgical outcomes, patient safety, and overall healthcare delivery.
  • Remain well informed on the advancements in thoracic surgery and robotic technology through participation in continuing medical education activities, conferences, and training programs.
  • Participate in both clinical and educational activities within the department, including teaching of residents and medical students.

Qualifications:

  • Medical degree from an accredited medical school.
  • Board certification or eligibility in Thoracic Surgery.
  • Completion of an accredited residency in Thoracic Surgery.
  • Proven expertise in lung and esophageal surgery, including complex procedures and robotic-assisted techniques.
  • Robotic surgery certification or significant experience with robotic-assisted thoracic surgeries.
  • Active state medical licensure and privileges to practice thoracic surgery.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare colleagues.
