Job description

Location:

A city located in the western part of Kentucky, known for its rich history, vibrant arts scene, and recreational opportunities. It is approximately 140 miles northwest of Nashville, Tennessee.

Facility:

A hospital serving as a regional referral center for a large geographic area, including over a dozen counties in western Kentucky, southern Illinois, southeast Missouri, and northwest Tennessee. The hospital offers a wide range of medical specialties and advanced technologies typically found in larger urban hospitals.

Opportunity:

• Seeking to expand their General Surgeon locum coverage pool.
• Coverage Details: 1 week per month starting in Q4 of this year.
• Practice Setting: Hospital-based coverage only.
• Schedule: 24-hour shifts for EMTALA call coverage (7am - 7am).
• Average Surgical Cases per Day: 1-3 cases for the surgeon on call and 2-4 consults.
• EMR System: EPIC.
• Operating Rooms: 12.
• General Surgeons: 3 in practice.
• OR Staff: Certified Surgical Technologists (CSTs), RN First Assistants, and well-seasoned OR staff.
• Patient Demographics: Peds to Geriatrics; pediatric cases are typically limited to procedures like skin and soft tissue, at the physician's discretion.
• Robotics: Available for certified surgeons.
• Required Procedures: General surgical cases for adults, trauma (minimal), central line insertion, chest tube insertion, vascular access devices, cholecystectomy, hernioplasty, colon and small bowel surgeries.

Compensation:

Competitive hourly rates with weekly pay, including malpractice coverage.
