In collaboration with the department's clinical staff, the Ochsner Staff Physician will provide and coordinate patient care, adhering to our core values: Patients First, Integrity, Compassion, Inclusivity, Teamwork, and Excellence.
We are part of the Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery at Christus Ochsner Health in Southwest Louisiana, located at St. Patrick Hospital in Lake Charles. Our team utilizes state-of-the-art technology and innovative approaches for treating heart, lung, and foregut/esophageal diseases. The John & Sylvia Stelly Regional Heart Center features a new Hybrid OR suite and performs TAVR procedures, Robotic Da Vinci thoracic surgeries, and minimally invasive cardiac surgeries.
The area offers a comprehensive cardiology program within the ACC-designated Heart Center. Our cardiac surgery program has a longstanding history, supported by advanced post-operative care technologies like Impella, UF/Aquadex, and hemodynamic monitoring systems. Opportunities for research, teaching, and community engagement are abundant, along with a growing thoracic robotic surgery program.
The candidate should have completed an accredited Cardiovascular Surgery Fellowship and be board eligible or certified. Preference for candidates with a broad skill set, interest in all facets of cardiovascular surgery, and specialized interest in aortic surgery and catheter-based therapies (TEVAR). The role includes participation in catheter-based valve technologies and leading vascular surgery services.
The ability to work positively with a multidisciplinary team, patients, and families in a high-acuity environment is essential.
