Job Opportunity at a 25-Bed Critical Access Hospital

Our hospital is currently undergoing expansion with new equipment and facilities. We are seeking a General Surgeon to replace a retiring colleague who has served the community for over 30 years.

Position Details

1. Type: Job Share, 1 FTE
2. Schedule: Ideally 1 month on / 1 month off (negotiable), totaling 26 weeks per year
3. Typical hours: Start at 0700, finish by noon

Qualifications

SD medical license required. It is acceptable if the license is not held at the time of application submission.

Responsibilities

Perform a variety of general surgical cases including appendectomies, gall bladder surgeries, simple orthopedic procedures (knee scopes, carpal tunnel releases), and endoscopic procedures.

The surgeon may assist with C-sections performed by Family Practice/OB physicians, though they are not required to do so.

Medical Staff Composition

• 3 Family Practice with OB Physicians
• 2 General Surgeons (job share)
• 2 Physician Assistants
• 4 Nurse Practitioners
• 1 Nurse Midwife

The hospital handles between 200-300 surgical cases annually.
