North Pittsburgh Oral Surgery is seeking a highly skilled, patient‑focused Surgical Assistant to support oral and maxillofacial surgical procedures and ensure patient safety, clinical excellence, and operational efficiency. The role involves preparing surgical environments, assisting during procedures, and supporting patients through preparation and recovery.

Responsibilities
- Prepare surgical operatories, consult rooms, and trays according to surgeon preferences.
- Assist surgeons during oral and maxillofacial surgical procedures.
- Prepare and recover surgical patients, including monitoring and recording vital signs.
- Review and document patient medical histories and clinical notes.
- Obtain informed consent and reinforce postoperative instructions.
- Maintain implant tracking documentation and medication logs.
- Process biopsy specimens according to established protocols.
- Scrub, sterilize, package, and maintain surgical instruments and equipment.
- Maintain infection control and sterility standards.
- Assist with operation of clinical equipment including IV sedation monitoring systems.
- Support emergency preparedness and response protocols.
- Coordinate with Patient Care Coordinators regarding scheduling and patient flow.
- Conduct post‑operative follow‑up communication with patients when directed.
- Assist with inventory management and restocking of clinical supplies.
- Travel to other NPOS locations as needed.
- Support additional clinical initiatives as directed by leadership.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Current CPR certification.
- Radiation safety certification.
- Ability to obtain Dental Anesthesia Assistant National Certification (DAANCE) within one year of employment.
- Current Hepatitis B vaccination in compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Understanding of anatomical, medical, and dental terminology.
- Strong manual dexterity and ability to assist sedated or special needs patients.
- Ability to multitask while maintaining clinical accuracy and composure.
