Job summary

Ivinson Memorial Hospital in Laramie, Wyoming seeks a general surgeon to examine, diagnose, and perform surgical procedures while providing exceptional patient care. You will work closely with the medical staff to advise on surgical matters and oversee pre- and post-operative protocols.

Candidates must have completed medical school and residency, hold active licensure in Wyoming, and maintain board certification.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited Medical School and Residency Program.
• Must be board-certified in surgery or equivalent and maintain certification.

Responsibilities

• Examine, diagnose and treat or prescribe course of treatment and surgery for patients with injuries or disorders with surgical conditions, and perform required surgery.
• Provide consultation and advice to the medical staff regarding surgical matters.
• Conduct and supervise direct patient care, and plan and execute disease prevention and health promotion programs.
• Order and analyze tests like X-rays, CT scans, and MRIs.
• Order antibiotics, special diets, sedatives, and other prescriptions for pre- and post-operative treatment.
• Other duties as assigned.

Experience

• Previous experience as a general surgeon required.

Credentials

• Must have a current, valid license to practice medicine in the State of Wyoming and must be in good standing with the Board of Medicine.
• Must have a current, valid Controlled Substance Registration in the State of Wyoming and must be in good standing with the Board of Pharmacy.
• Must have a current, valid DEA Registration and must be in good standing with the DEA.
• Must be certified and in good standing with the American Board of Surgery or equivalent and remain certified throughout employment with IMH.
• Must be a member of the Active Medical Staff at Ivinson Memorial Hospital and must comply with the Medical Staff governing documents. Must remain in good standing with the Medical Staff and governing documents and must obtain all necessary hospital privileges to perform the role of Hospitalist at Ivinson Memorial Hospital.
• Specialized knowledge and experience related to the diagnosis, preoperative, operative and postoperative management, including the management of complications.
• Ability to work with a wide variety of cultures.
• Excellent customer service skills, including but not limited to: a friendly personality, tact, patience, empathy and a helpful, professional attitude both in person and on the telephone.
• Ability to effectively communicate with staff, managers and the general public verbally and in writing.
• Excellent organization and time management skills and ability to establish priorities effectively.
