Job summary

Piedmont Macon North is seeking a skilled First Assistant/Surgical Tech to join the perioperative team. You will function as the first assistant during operative and invasive procedures, preparing sterile instruments and maintaining the sterile field while supporting the surgical team.

The role requires an accredited surgical technologist program graduate, completion of a First Assistant program or verified competency, CST/BCLS, and appropriate surgical certifications.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited surgical technologist program.
• Completion of didactic and clinical components of the First Assistant program or competency verified by a Piedmont surgeon during orientation.

Responsibilities

• Functions as a first assistant during operative and invasive procedures.
• Assists OR staff in the assigned room/case and prepares sterile instruments, supplies, and equipment.
• Maintains the sterile field and supports the surgical team as scrub tech.

Responsibilities:

Functions as a first assistant during operative and other invasive procedures in accordance with credentials, privileges, experience, education and competency verification. Assists OR staff in the assigned room/case. At time facilitates the operative or other invasive procedure by preparing and providing the required sterile instruments, supplies and equipment in the role of scrub tech. Maintains the sterile field and anticipates and responds to the needs of the surgical team.

Qualifications:

Education

• Graduate of an accredited a surgical technologist program. Required and
• completion of didactic and clinical components of the First Assistant program or competency verified by a sponsoring Piedmont surgeon during the orientation period. Required

Work Experience

• 3 years perioperative services experience Required

Licenses and Certifications

• CST - Certified Surgical Technologist Required and
• BCLS - Basic Life Support Required and
• Certified surgical assistant (CSA), Certified surgical first assistant (CSFA), Surgical assistant, certified, (SA-C) or equivalent certification Required
