Job summary

Piedmont Cartersville is seeking a qualified First Assistant to support operative and invasive procedures in the surgical suite, working closely with the OR team to maintain sterile technique and readiness.

The ideal candidate will have a graduate surgical technologist program, completion or competency verification for First Assistant, CST and BCLS certifications, and at least three years of perioperative experience.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited surgical technologist program.
• Completion of didactic and clinical components of the First Assistant program or competency verified.
• 3 years perioperative services experience required.
• CST, BCLS, and First Assistant certifications required.

Responsibilities

• Functions as a first assistant during operative and other invasive procedures in accordance with credentials, privileges, experience, education and competency verification.
• Assists OR staff in the assigned room/case.
• Prepares and provides the required sterile instruments, supplies and equipment in the role of scrub tech.
• Maintains the sterile field and anticipates and responds to the needs of the surgical team.

Licenses and Certifications:

• CST - Certified Surgical Technologist Required and
• BCLS - Basic Life Support Required and
• Certified surgical assistant (CSA), Certified surgical first assistant (CSFA), Surgical assistant, certified, (SA-C) or equivalent certification Required
