Job summary

The Department of Natural Resources, Division of Geological & Geophysical Surveys (DGGS) in Fairbanks, Alaska, is recruiting for a Geologist 2 - Surficial Geologic Mapper. This permanent seasonal position involves geologic mapping, GIS data production, and fieldwork across Alaska.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in geology or related geoscience fields from an accredited college.
• One year of entry professional experience in geology or geophysics.
• Substitution allows 24 graduate hours in geoscience plus 24 in natural sciences instead of the degree.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate on creating geologic maps and GIS data under guidance.
• Collect, compile, and analyze geologic data for resources and hazards.
• Assist field-season preparation and helicopter-supported fieldwork.
• Write reports and prepare figures to disseminate geologic information.
