Job summary

The United States Navy seeks a Surface Warfare Officer to lead a division of Sailors, overseeing administrative, operational, and maintenance duties while gaining ship operations knowledge across engineering, navigation, and combat systems.

You will supervise Sailors, stand watches, and progress through qualifications to assume Officer of the Deck duties, with opportunities to collaborate across warfare communities during exercises and real-world operations.

Qualifications

• Must be a U.S. citizen.
• Must be between 18 and 32 years old.
• Must have or be pursuing a Bachelor’s degree with a minimum GPA of 2.75.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a division of Sailors responsible for a ship system or mission area (e.g., engineering equipment, combat systems maintenance, navigation, or deck seamanship).
• Stand watch underway and in port, progressing through qualifications until trusted with Officer of the Deck duties.
• Plan and execute shipboard programs such as maintenance, training, inspections, safety, and administrative requirements.
• Manage risk and enforce standards during evolutions like underway replenishment and flight quarters.
• Integrate with other warfare communities during exercises and real-world operations.
