Job summary

US Navy Surface Warfare Officer leads at sea by managing ship operations, combat systems, navigation, and warfare tactics to ensure mission readiness across the Fleet on destroyers, cruisers, amphibious ships, littoral combat ships, and auxiliaries.

Commissioning via USNA, NROTC, or OCS followed by Basic Division Officer training and shipboard qualifications, with opportunities for advanced schools and global deployments as you progress through leadership billets.

Qualifications

• Must meet general enlistment or commissioning standards.
• Bachelor's degree for officer positions.
• Ability to obtain a security clearance.
• Meet medical, vision, and dental standards and physical fitness requirements.

Responsibilities

• Direct shipboard watch teams and coordinate flight and underway operations.
• Oversee navigation, engineering, weapons, and combat systems readiness.
• Plan and execute maritime warfare, logistics, and amphibious operations.
• Train and mentor Sailors.
• Prepare the ship for inspections, certifications, and deployments.
