Job summary

Decision Technologies, Inc. in Virginia Beach, VA seeks a Surface/Navigation Radar Technician to support fleet radar systems through maintenance, testing, documentation and onboard troubleshooting. Must be able to travel on short notice and hold a Secret clearance.

The role includes serving as SME for radar systems, performing SOVT and OJT, and documenting maintenance actions aboard ships to assist fleet units.

Qualifications

• Practical experience in maintenance, repair, documentation and testing of Navy radar systems.
• Experience with AN/SPS-67(V) and SPS-73(V) radars or equivalent.
• Ability to train personnel and document maintenance actions.

Decision Technologies seeks a qualified Surface / Navigation Radar Technician to join our team in Virginia Beach, Virginia

Position Description:

The candidate will support the In-Service Engineering Agent (ISEA) for Navigation and Surface Search Radar systems in the areas of technical support, field change installations, performance evaluation, training, technical documentation, maintenance procedures and underway testing, and will provide assistance to fleet units in maintenance and troubleshooting. The candidate will serve as the ISEA’s Subject Matter Expert for the radar as part of direct fleet support responsibility and will document results of maintenance, troubleshooting and problem resolution actions accomplished while onboard. They will also provide distance support troubleshooting for fleet CASREPs and requests for technical assistance.

MUST HAVE Secret clearance

Responsibilities and Duties:

• Support engineering efforts related to design, testing and analysis of Navigation and Surface Search Radar System upgrades or modifications
• Support technical documentation upgrades or modifications required as a result of system improvements
• Perform post-installation System Operational Verification Test (SOVT) and On-the-Job Training (OJT) for ship’s force

Candidate may be expected to travel on short notice to US and overseas locations, must hold and maintain a passport.

Required Qualifications and Skills:

• Practical experience in maintenance, repair, technical documentation, parts procurement, testing and operation of Navy radar systems
• US Navy NEC or practical experience maintaining and troubleshooting the AN/SPS-67(V) and / or SPS-73(V) radars
• Practical experience with training, preventative maintenance, use of technical documentation, parts support, technical reports and documenting maintenance and troubleshooting activities
• Experience in underway test and evaluation of US Navy radar systems
• Familiar with shipboard safety procedures including electrical tag-outs, working aloft procedures, hazardous material handling and use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
• High quality interpersonal and communication (oral and written) skills Personal computer skills (competent with MS Office applications).

Desired Qualifications:

• Experience working in a Navy technical support and fleet support team
• Experience reviewing and reporting on combat system casualty reports

Travel Requirements:

• 40% to include short notice OCONUS
