Job summary

Decision Technologies, Inc. is seeking a skilled AN/SPQ-9B radar technician to support in-service engineering, field change installations, and performance evaluation. The role includes maintenance, troubleshooting, training, and documenting corrective actions for fleet support.

The candidate will be the ISEA’s subject matter expert for the radar, working onboard and providing distance support for CASREPs, with travel to US locations as needed. A Secret clearance is required.

Qualifications

• Practical maintenance, repair, documentation, parts procurement, testing and operation of Navy radar systems.
• Practical experience maintaining and troubleshooting the AN/SPQ-9B radar.
• Experience with training, preventative maintenance, documentation, parts support and technical reports.

Responsibilities

• Support design, testing and analysis of radar upgrades or modifications.
• Assist in documentation upgrades due to system changes.
• Develop Ship Installation Drawings (SIDs) and Ship Alteration Records (SAR).
• Coordinate with Regional Maintenance Centers for installation data and schedules.

We are currently pipelining qualified AN/SPQ-9B Radar Technicians to join our team in Virginia Beach, VA.

Position Description

The candidate will support the In-Service Engineering Agent (ISEA) for the AN/SPQ-9B radar in the areas of technical support, field change installations, performance evaluation, training, technical documentation, maintenance procedures and underway testing, and will provide assistance to fleet units in maintenance and troubleshooting. The candidate will serve as the ISEA’s Subject Matter Expert for the radar as part of direct fleet support responsibility and will document results of maintenance, troubleshooting and problem resolution actions accomplished while onboard. They will also provide distance support troubleshooting for fleet CASREPs and requests for technical assistance.

MUST HAVE Secret clearance.

Responsibilities And Duties

• Support engineering efforts related to design, testing and analysis of AN/SPQ-9B radar upgrades or modifications
• Support technical documentation upgrades or modifications required because of system improvements
• Assist in the development of Ship Installation Drawings (SIDs) and Ship Alteration Records (SAR), which reflect system installation plans and configurations
• Act as liaison with Regional Maintenance Centers to ensure proper processing of installation data and schedule requirements necessary for the unimpeded check-in processing of Alteration Installation Teams (AITs)
• Perform post-installation System Operational Verification Test (SOVT) and On-the-Job Training (OJT) for ship’s force

Required Qualifications And Skills

• Practical experience in maintenance, repair, technical documentation, parts procurement, testing and operation of Navy radar systems
• Practical experience maintaining and troubleshooting the AN/SPQ-9B radar
• Practical experience with training, preventative maintenance, use of technical documentation, parts support, technical reports and documenting maintenance and troubleshooting activities
• Experience in underway test and evaluation of Navy radar systems
• Familiar with shipboard safety procedures including electrical tag-outs, working aloft procedures, hazardous material handling and use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
• Working knowledge of Change Requests & Engineering Change Proposals
• Familiar with Navy Logistics Support elements including configuration management, onboard allowance and supply support
• Familiar with the US Navy installation planning process (desired)
• High quality interpersonal and communication (oral and written) skills
• Personal computer skills (competent with MS Office applications)

Travel Requirements

• Candidate may be expected to travel on short notice to US and overseas locations, must hold and maintain a passport.
