Job summary

Liberty Mutual Surety is seeking a detail-oriented Underwriting Assistant for a hybrid role serving the Chicago area. You will support underwriters, process bond issuances, and handle agency changes in Surety systems while delivering strong internal and external customer service.

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma, 3+ years of surety underwriting assistant experience, solid communication skills, and proficiency with the software tools used in our Surety operations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 3+ years surety bond underwriting assistant experience or related experience.
• Understanding of surety rating and processing functions preferred.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Demonstrates ability to work well on a team and independently.
• Exceptional customer service skills.
• Proven ability to organize personal workflow and the workflow of others.
• Competent with computer software applications used by Surety.
• Independent and proficient with bond processing tasks.

Responsibilities

• Provides surety underwriting support and technical administrative assistance to underwriters, management, and other staff.
• Performs tasks associated with bond issuance and/or agency change processing activities in Surety/corporate systems, and file maintenance.
• Provides exceptional customer service and support to internal/external customers.
• Position may include responsibility to train other departmental staff; and research and resolve processing and bond reconciliation problems.
