Job summary

Packaging Corporation of America (PCA) seeks a Supervisor – Maintenance to plan, schedule and direct daily maintenance activities for multi-skill mechanics and contractors at our mill. The role requires coordinating with engineering on capital projects and ensuring downtime is minimized.

The successful candidate will have a mechanical mindset, industrial maintenance experience, and proficiency with Microsoft Office; strong communication and organizational skills are essential.

  • BSME / BSMET or equivalent.
  • Must be mechanically inclined.
  • Technical Training / Experience with Industrial Maintenance.
  • Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and schedule work orders; supervise maintenance staff.
  • Coordinate with engineering for capital projects and maintenance concerns.
  • Assign and direct work to meet production schedules with minimal downtime.
  • Check completed work and ensure documentation.
  • Participate in continuous improvement of maintenance and safety programs.
  • Issue requisitions for parts and supplies.
  • Enforce company policy and maintain discipline per Union-Management Agreement.
  • Participate in plant safety and compliance with safety standards.

The Supervisor – Maintenance will plan, schedule and direct daily maintenance activities for multi-skill mechanics and contractors. Available for consultations and assistance with maintenance or staffing issues throughout the mill.

Principle Accountabilities:

  • Plan/Schedule work orders. Supervise the activities of Maintenance personnel assigned to their area.
  • Work closely with engineering to ensure capital projects are implemented with maintenance concerns addressed.
  • Assign and direct work to meet maintenance requirements, while coordinating to meet production schedules with a minimum of downtime and cost.
  • Check all completed work before releasing equipment to Operations Department. Ensure build/repair documentation is completed and recorded.
  • Participate in continuous improvement of preventative maintenance / basic care and documentation.
  • Issue direct and storeroom requisitions for repair parts & supplies necessary to perform Electrical Maintenance work.
  • Administer company policy, enforce company rules & regulations. Maintain discipline & administer Union-Management Agreement.
  • Participate in plant safety, fire prevention, housekeeping programs & maintain safe working conditions & practices to ensure compliance with State & Federal Safety Standards.

Basic Qualifications:

  • BSME / BSMET or equivalent
  • Must be mechanically inclined
  • Technical Training / Experience with Industrial Maintenance
  • Microsoft Office

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Industrial Maintenance (bearings, gears, conveyors, drives, etc)
  • Experience with metal and process piping fabrication.
  • Experience with alignment and balancing of rotating equipment.
  • Experience with / understanding of vibration, lubrication, and infrared analysis.
  • Experience with hydraulic and pneumatic systems.

The successful candidate must possess the following Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Must be able to work well under pressure and within time constraints, multi-task, and build sound relationships with both internal and external customers.
  • Must exhibit excellent communication, analytical, organizational and computer skills.
  • Must be capable of independently making sound decisions through creative problem solving.
  • Must be capable of working with ambiguity and change.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

  • Starting salary range for position: $96,000 - $144,000
  • Paid Vacation: Three (3) weeks per calendar year. Pro-rata Vacation during the initial year of hire based upon start date within the calendar year.
  • Paid Holidays.
  • Within the first 30 days of employment, an employee (and their dependents) is eligible to enroll in certain benefit coverages -- medical, dental, and vision – and are automatically enrolled in life, AD&D, and disability coverages.
  • Upon hire, an employee is automatically enrolled in the 401k plan. The plan offers both pre-tax and Roth contribution options along with employer provided matching contributions.
