Job summary

First Step House in Salt Lake City is seeking a Supportive Housing Program Assistant to support two Permanent Supportive Housing programs for individuals experiencing homelessness and co-occurring conditions. You will provide administrative support, coordinate services, and help residents and staff access resources.

This 36-hour per week, full-time role offers a meaningful career with competitive pay ($50,000–$55,000 annually), generous paid time off, holidays, and benefits.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field is required.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills are essential.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Word and Excel.
  • Experience working with individuals facing homelessness, mental health challenges, or substance use disorders is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with two Program Managers to coordinate day-to-day operations.
  • Operate from two program locations in Salt Lake City.
  • Conduct resident intake appointments and complete admission paperwork.
  • Manage referrals, eligibility verification, and waitlists.
  • Coordinate communication with community providers and partner agencies.
  • Schedule appointments and meetings for clinical staff.
  • Assist residents, providers, and partners by phone and email.
  • Prepare reports, maintain files, update spreadsheets, and organize program documents.
  • Request and track required assessments for program compliance.
  • Support care coordination meetings and document meeting notes.
  • Maintain HIPAA and 42 CFR confidentiality.
  • Collaborate with case managers, counselors, and nursing staff.
  • Model professionalism, respect, and recovery-oriented values.
  • Assist with trainings and other administrative projects as needed.

What You'll Do

As the Program Assistant, you'll help keep our Supportive Housing program running smoothly while ensuring residents and staff receive the support they need. Your work will directly contribute to helping individuals build stable, independent lives.

Responsibilities include:

  • Assisting with trainings and other administrative projects as needed
