Job summary

CAE in Las Vegas seeks pilots for the Simulator Crew Member (SCM) Program. This on-call role provides right-seat support for FAA-approved Part 142 training programs at CAE facilities and involves working with clients from diverse backgrounds.

As an SCM you will operate as SIC during simulator sessions, meet TSA requirements, and maintain high training standards. Availability for training, events, and irregular hours is expected, with 10–15 workdays per month minimum.

Qualifications

  • Commercial pilot or ATP certificate required.
  • MEL rating required.
  • Instrument rating and multi-engine flight experience required.
  • Minimum 400 total flight hours.
  • Minimum 50 hours multi-engine and instrument time.
  • Las Vegas, NV residency required.
  • Willingness to train and support 35 events per year.
  • Strong communication and customer-focused attitude.

Job description

CAE is seeking pilots for the Simulator Crew Member (SCM) Program in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The SCM Program trains and qualifies participants to provide right-seat support for clients enrolled in FAA-approved 14 CFR Part 142 training programs at CAE facilities.

This is an on-call position supporting training and evaluation activities in flight simulators. SCMs work with clients from a variety of operational backgrounds, including FAA Part 91, Part 135, EASA, and other international aviation authorities.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Provide second-in-command (SIC) seat support during simulator-based training events.
  • Support clients participating in FAA-approved training programs.
  • Maintain proficiency and performance standards as a qualified simulator crew member.
  • Assist with simulator evaluation events conducted by CAE or regulatory authorities.
  • Contribute to a professional, respectful, and effective learning environment.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, instructors, and internal stakeholders.
  • Deliver a high standard of customer service throughout training activities.
Work schedule and program requirements:
  • Initial training requires a commitment of up to three weeks or more.
  • Workdays may exceed 11 hours, with simulator sessions typically not exceeding six consecutive hours.
  • Scheduling may occur any day of the week and at any time of day based on candidate availability and business needs.
  • Assignments may be scheduled 24 hours per day, 7 days per week.
  • A minimum commitment of 10 to 15 workdays per month is required.
  • SCMs must complete a minimum of 35 events within a rolling 12-month period to maintain program participation and recurrent training eligibility.
  • Candidates must meet all applicable TSA requirements.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Commercial Pilot Certificate or Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) Certificate.
  • Airplane Multi-Engine Land (MEL) rating.
  • Instrument Rating, Airplane Multi-Engine Land.
  • Minimum 50 hours of multi-engine and instrument flight experience.
  • Minimum 400 hours total flight time.
  • Ability to complete required initial and recurrent training.
  • Availability to support a minimum of 35 events within a 12-month period.
  • Ability to commit to scheduled training and work assignments.
  • Must reside within the Las Vegas, Nevada area.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in verbal and written formats.
  • Ability to work in a customer-focused training environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Minimum 100 hours turbine flight time.
  • Previous experience supporting flight training activities.
  • Experience operating within FAA Part 91, Part 135, EASA, or other regulated aviation environments.
  • Demonstrated experience collaborating effectively within a crew resource management (CRM) environment.
  • Experience interacting with clients from diverse operational and professional backgrounds.
