Description
The Supported Employment Supervisor is responsible for the overall management and success of the Individual Placement and Support (IPS) supported employment program. This leadership role includes supervising a team of up to ten Employment Specialists, providing ongoing training, field-based mentoring, and performance oversight to ensure high-quality service delivery.
In addition to supervising staff, the Supervisor will maintain a small caseload of two to three individuals receiving ISP services, ensuring direct involvement in program delivery and client outcomes. The role also includes monitoring program performance metrics, analyzing outcome data, and implementing quality improvement strategies to drive continuous progress and meet established goals.
This position requires strong leadership, clinical insight, and a hands-on approach to workforce development, client engagement, and community partnerships.
Responsibilities:
- Recruit, hire, train, and evaluate Employment Specialists to ensure high performance, adherence to IPS principles, and achievement of program benchmarks.
- Establish and communicate clear performance expectations regarding employer contacts, job starts per quarter, and employment placement rates across individual caseloads.
- Facilitate weekly group supervision sessions that align with the evidence-based practices of the IPS Supported Employment model.
- Serve as a liaison between Employment Specialists, department coordinators, agency administrators, and other key internal and external stakeholders.
- Maintain ongoing collaboration with mental health supervisors to ensure integrated service delivery, address client-related issues, and advocate for employment supports as part of the broader treatment plan.
- Coordinate services with the Office of Vocational Rehabilitation (OVR) and other third-party agencies to enhance client support and access to employment resources.
- Organize monthly coordination meetings between Vocational Rehabilitation counselors and IPS team members to promote alignment, troubleshoot barriers, and strategize service delivery.
- Lead internal reviews of the Charity Cares IPS Supported Employment program, and implement necessary adjustments based on evaluation findings and feedback.
- Assist in developing and executing action plans in response to internal audits, performance reports, or quality assurance recommendations.
- Participate in and/or lead IPS steering committee meetings focused on implementation fidelity, sustainability, and long-term program success.
- Maintain a small caseload (3–5 clients) to deliver direct IPS Supported Employment services and stay connected to the client experience.
- Provide individualized supervision and mentoring to Employment Specialists, including:
- Scheduled office-based supervision sessions.
- Hands-on field mentoring and observation to support skill development.
- Increased field mentoring (weekly or biweekly) for new hires or specialists with performance concerns or unfavorable outcomes.
- Monitor and analyze client outcome data on a monthly basis, sharing performance summaries with the IPS team on a quarterly basis.
- Support Employment Specialists in setting measurable improvement goals, and track their progress toward those targets.
- Conduct individual outcome reviews with clients and develop written performance improvement plans as needed.
- Coach and support team members in enhancing their techniques and strategies to improve job placements, retention, and overall program effectiveness.
Requirements
- An Associate’s degree in Rehabilitation Counseling or a related field is preferred and will be considered with relevant experience
- Previous experience in the developmental health field is highly desired, particularly with a strong understanding of Individual Service Plan (ISP) programs serving individuals with mental illness or disabilities
- Previous supervisory experience is highly valued, especially within behavioral health, employment services, or human services settings
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in supported employment, vocational rehabilitation, or workforce development
- At least 1 year of leadership or supervisory experience in a clinical or community-based setting
- Familiarity with the IPS Supported Employment model and its core principles
- Strong interpersonal, leadership, and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, data tracking systems, and documentation procedures
- Ability to work flexible hours and provide field-based supervision and mentoring
- Demonstrated commitment to person-centered planning, workforce inclusion, and recovery-oriented services
